Mary's Meals works with local organisations on the ground, in this way inspiring younger adults to take control and enable the process to be sustainable. Also, to ensure that the food reaches the intended schools so that the children benefit.
In 2002 200 meals a day were served to the initial school in Malawi
In 2011 500,000 meals were served by Mary’s Meals
In 2014 900,000 meals were provided in the place of education
In 20243 2,429,182 meals were provided throughout the regions
In 2025 3 m have been catered for.
For the 200 days a year provided for in the school environment it costs a mere £19.95 per child.
Mary’s Meals have a commitment to spend 93% of the donations received on food/resources – with only 7% spent on governance/fund-raising – this is far below other “similar” charities.
Not only have so many children avoided starvation by the provision but Mary’s Meals is proud that so far there have been 8 graduates – from slum to university.
