Visit to Elton Hall
Friday 2nd September arrive 10am for 10.30am start
Elton Hall is an enchanting house that has evolved throughout the centuries culminating in a fascinating amalgamation of styles. Each room is packed with treasures – porcelain, magnificent furniture and fine paintings from Old Masters to remarkable 19th century works. The Library is one of the largest in private ownership and possesses wonderful treasures such as Henry VIII’s prayer book.
Formal gardens, first laid out in the 1730s, have been lovingly restored over the past 40 years. A RHS Partnership Garden, they include mature topiary, a Gothic Orangery, a flower garden, with herbaceous borders, sunken garden, shrub garden and box walk.
We will be split into two groups, the first group will take a guided tour round the house starting at 10.40 , the second group will start at 11. After the house tour which takes around 1 hour we then look round the gardens at our leisure. The cost will be £14 per head. Liz will make Arrangements for the Mulberry Café to serve us a light lunch at either 1 or 1.30, this will be an extra charge.
