Lesley is a dental surgeon who retired in March after 41 years in practice, having been a practice owner for 31 years. She also works with with the CQC as a dental adviser and inspector. As this is not possible at present, she is employed as a contact tracer for Public Health England during the pandemic. She has three children, now grown up, and three chandchildren.
She has had an ambition since she was a young child to see orangutans in the wild, and three years ago she fulfilled that ambition, but was shocked by the rate at which the ecosystem is being destroyed by the rapid growth of palm oil plantations, and is very concerned as to how long it will will be possible to see these wonderful animals in the wild .
She is not an expert, but has a passion to try and change this situation for the better and hopes to encourage as many as people possible to spread the word about sustainable palm oil, as a way of retaining this valuable and irreplaceable habitat.
