40,000 steps DG’s Challenge raising sponsorship and awareness of Rotary’s EndPolioNow Foundation project, Abington Park Northampton 24th October

Your donation to District 1070 - “Walking Challenge” in aid of End Polio Now will help eradicate Polio, which is a paralysing and potentially fatal infectious disease, which typically affects children under the age of five.

On Saturday 24th October 2026, District Governor Dawn Denton will be undertaking a “walking challenge” in aid of End Polio Now campaign.

Between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Dawn will be walking 40,000 steps, mainly around Abington Park, Northampton (NN1 5LW), demonstrating determination, commitment, and resilience to raise funds for a fantastic cause. Come along and walk with her.

Walking 40,000 steps is no small feat. It will require endurance, perseverance, and a positive mindset throughout the day. Every step Dawn takes helps make a difference, and your encouragement and support can help keep them motivated along the way.

Thanks to Rotary’s efforts, more than 20 million people have been saved from paralysis and are able to walk today. This fundraising activity reminds us of the life-changing difference eradicating polio is having.

Your donation to District 1070 - “Walking Challenge” will help support Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.

Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) over 30 years ago, the incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.99% from about 350,000 cases a year in 125 countries to less than 100 per year.
But the final steps on any journey can sometimes be the hardest, but we can’t let up with the finish line in sight. If we don't finish the fight right now, polio could return. Within 10 years as many as 200,000 new cases of paralytic polio could occur.
Supporting my fundraising walk with help to protect children around the world with a life-changing polio vaccination.

Thank you for your support.
