Our Rotary Cyclists Have Raised Over £2000 For The Homeless

Through your generosity in sponsoring our Rotary cyclists we have been able to donate over £2000 to Lawrence House in Hinckley.

Cycling To Help The Young Homeless

Members of the Rotary Club of Market Bosworth each cycled 300km to raise funds for Lawernce House, a charity that supports the young homeless and is based in Hinckley.

The keen team members wereJohn Hayes, Dave Morris, Darrell Gillett, Brian Cox, Monty Trott plus volunteers Glen and Steff Mackey.

We are very grateful to all who sponsored our cyclists and donated over £2000 to this very worthy cause.

No doubt many of you were thinking back to when you were in you late teens or early twenties. Chances are that you were strong willed and independent; possibly not. Perhaps you relied on family and friends much more that you cared to admit. Perhaps you asked yourself, how would you have coped if that support had been taken away? Where would you have called home? How would you have supported yourself? It’s not easy; and can be downright terrifying!

There are young people, living not far from here, for whom family support that most of us take for granted, hasn’t been so readily available. Typically, failed parental relationships, bereavement, sometimes alcohol and drugs abuse drove them to desperately seek help to rebuild their lives.

Lawrence House, in Hinckley, reaches out to young people in such need. That is why your donations are so important. Here are the stories of just a few of them:

Charlottes story

Michael’s story

Sarah's Story

Clara's Story

And Lawrence House's own story.

Many, many thanks for your  generosity and support.
