The Man on the Spot
Our speaker, Bill Hamilton, has been a journalist and broadcaster for 60 years, having started as a cub reporter on a Scottish weekly paper at £5.10 shillings a week and ended up as Special Correspondent for BBC TV News.
He reported on major incidents across the world and was honoured by The Royal Television Society and Rotary International.
He was also a football referee - once the youngest in Scotland aged 14 - and going on to referee more than 2,000 matches.
