On 31st May President Tony Wildman completed his solo challemge to cross 100 bridges along the Bedford Embankment in a single day.
In glorious sunshine and supported by fellow Rotarians and representatives from Schoolrearders and the Bedford Daycare Hospice, Tony battled through raising more than £7,200 and cultivating several ripe blisters along the way.
Tony has since received the following message;
Tony, I called you a legend in the Schoolreaders Facebook post after completing your 100 bridges challenge yesterday- and indeed you are. Super-heroic efforts ( especially with a painful foot) and your great commitment has resulted in such a big fundraising income. £7,000 for an individual's challenge is huge.Thank you so much for all of your and the Rotarians of Bedford Castle support for Schoolreaders this year. We are extremely grateful and over 400 children in Bedfordshire will benefit from reading support as a result.
What a phenomena, achievement, providing life-changing help to so many children.
Thank you all so much.
