Mayor Dave Hodgson - Bedford Borough Local Plan 2030
Mayor Dave Hodgson was elected to Bedford Borough Council in 2002 and was elected as Mayor in a by-election in 2009. He was re-elected in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
He first moved to Bedford at nine years of age. After graduating with a degree in Computing and Business, his career included running his own business and also working as a university lecturer in IT.
In addition to his role as elected Mayor and leader of Bedford Borough Council, he has retained the economic development portfolio himself throughout his time as Mayor, with both supporting current employers and attracting inward investment being key priorities for the Council.
Dave is a Member of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership Board, and is the Lead for Inward Investment. He is also the Chair of the England’s Economic Heartland Strategic Transport Forum.
