Charlie is a well-travelled freelance auctioneer, conducting auctions all over the world. He started off selling poultry after leaving school and then established his own highly successful saleroom in Woburn which he went on to run for over 25 years. After this, Charlie went freelance and has travelled extensively conducting a seemingly endless series of spectacular sales running into multi-million pounds and including items such as a catalogue of Jimi Hendrix songs sold for $15 million and the sale of many multi-million dollar cars. In fact, Charlie holds the record for the highest price ever achieved for a car sold by auction in the USA. The car, a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype, sold for over $16 million.
Charlie is now also heavily in demand as an auctioneer for high profile charity events and very recently was asked to support Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief charity gala which was held at the British Museum. With over 60 models and an audience including many famous celebrities, Charlie conducted the auction which helped to raise funds for the Mayor’s Fund for London and UNICEF.
Seen on our TV screens regularly as the host of BBC’s Bargain Hunt, Charlie has a wealth of knowledge on antiques and has built up a repertoire of humorous and interesting anecdotes that will ensure an entertaining and enjoyable evening.
