Kids Out Day 2024

For many years Meriden Rotary, and previously Coleshill Rotary, has been taking part in this national event and it has become one of the highlights in the school year.  In the middle of June Meriden Rotary Club was able to send 125 pupils and around 50 carers from Woodlands School in Coleshill to Twycross Zoo for a day out. In this rather disappointing summer, the weather did manage to stay dry and the temperature was just right. Judging from the cards we received when the students were back in school, they all enjoyed a really good day out.

We raise the money for this event each year with a Charity Golf Day, held at Maxstoke Park Golf Club. We invite approximately 20 teams along and they compete for various prizes that we provide. The day ends with prize giving and a nice meal in the clubhouse. A raffle is held and is generously supported by all the competitors. We would like to thank Maxstoke Park Golf Club for the use of their well-kept course, the club house facilities and for providing an excellent meal. We also need to thank Twycross Zoo for allowing many Rotary clubs in District 1060 to send hundreds of children to the zoo for a special day out.

If you are a keen golfer and you would like to enter a team of four into next year’s event it will be taking place on the 19th May 2025. Full details can be obtained by contacting Meriden Rotary club secretary, Jane Maugham. It is a good opportunity to enjoy playing on a great course while helping to do something beneficial for disabled children.
