Rotary Steps Up with £2,000 Emergency Donation to ShelterBox Venezuela Earthquake Appeal - July 2026
In rapid response to the devastating twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela, the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann has donated £2,000 to international disaster relief charity ShelterBox.
Isle of Man residents cannot failed to be moved by the harrowing scenes of devastation on our TV news, websites and social media over the last few days. The disaster has shattered local infrastructure, claiming at least 1,400 lives and leaving tens of thousands of families homeless, displaced, and exposed to the elements.
Vital Aid for Displaced Families
The £2,000 donation will be used to procure and deploy customized ShelterBoxes and emergency kits. These supplies offer immediate practical relief for families who have lost everything:
- Emergency shelter kits and robust tents to protect families sleeping on streets.
- Solar lights to provide safety and visibility during widespread power outages.
- Thermal blankets and sleeping mats to safeguard survivors against cold nights.
- Essential cooking utensils and water purification equipment to ensure survival.
A Trusted Global Partnership
ShelterBox was originally founded by Rotarians in 2000 and remains Rotary International's official global project partner for disaster relief. This direct connection ensures that 100% of the funds raised through this appeal bypass bureaucratic delays and translate directly into physical aid on the ground in Venezuela.
Local Rotary Districts inside Venezuela are currently working hand-in-hand with ShelterBox assessment teams and local authorities to coordinate safe passage and rapid delivery of these essential goods.
