Thank You and Donation Evening 2026

An annual event to say thank you for the help we receive at Christmas and to donate the fantastic amount raised in 2025 of £26,500! Read on ....


Each year, we gather together to say a big 'THANK YOU' to many of our volunteer groups and those who help us collect over the Christmas period, and to present grants from the money collected from our 14 night visits with the float around Widnes, our collections outside Asda and our Santa weekends at Rivendell Garden Centre when almost 400 children got to see the main man!

We surpassed, (again) our previous record, raising an astonishing £26,500!!  Our applications also surpassed expectations and we received almost 90!   It was a lovely dilemma to have as we enjoyed not one but two evenings when we welcomed almost all of the successful applicants to gather together at Parklands Sports Club.  Our guests on our first night were the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Martha Lloyd-Jones and Consort, Councillor Peter Lloyd Jones, together with our Rotary District Governor Elect, Ian Cochrane. 

It was lovely to hear how much good goes on in our community, from scout, guide, brownie and rainbow groups, gymnastic groups, sea cadets, cricket, football and rugby teams (both league and union), theatre and church groups, students soon to visit Kenya to help in the community on the trip of a lifetime, to name just a few, all wishing to 'make a difference' to the lives of others.

We also awarded two volunteers, Ben and Graham Karalius, with a Paul Harris Fellow award, Rotary's highest honour, given to those who make a difference in their community.  Ben and Graham give up their time every Christmas to drive the float for us, never asking for anything in return!

We also surprised our President, Damian, with a Paul Harris Fellow Award for all the work he does, collecting shoes for the UK charity, ShoeAidUK, glasses for the Specsort project and recently medical equipment for Physionet another wonderful UK charity who repurpose unused medical equipment which is sent abroad.  Damian has also been at the helm as our President for the last two years.
