On Saturday, 7th September 2024, Rotary District 1285 held its annual Disability Sports Day at Sutton Leisure Centre in St. Helens.
A humbling and inspirational day, as competitors from across the region came together for a wonderful event. As always, the day was much more than competition, it was a celebration of determination, fellowship, and the joy of participation.
Volunteers, carers, school staff and members worked to ensure every competitor had the opportunity to shine. District 1285 Rotary clubs came together to once again demonstrate their ability to make a positive impact.
Members of Widnes Fellowship Centre took part and thoroughly enjoyed the day, spurred on by each other and their friends and family.
The Disability Sports Day serves as a powerful reminder of how fortunate many of us are. Despite the challenges the competitors faced, each participant had a smile on their face. The day wasn’t about winning, but about taking part and enjoying the experience. Their determination and positive attitude served as an inspiration to all who attended.
With 98 competitors, plus countless supporters and spectators, the venue was packed. The day was a perfect blend of fierce competition and friendly sportsmanship.
The District St. Helens games serve as a first base for developing and supporting talented disabled athletes, offering a platform where participants can hone their skills and potentially progress to higher levels of competition. A great opportunity for athletes to demonstrate their abilities, build their confidence, and aspire to greater heights.
Well done to everyone!
