On Thursday 18th May 2023 in the absence of President Brian Johnson, SVP Scott Galloway took the meeting as he welcomed 13 Rotarians to this our lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes.
Due to the late call, off by our speaker club business including forthcoming events were discussed at our meeting today.
Due to a mix up our attendance at the Collydean Community Centre open day had been missed. An apology had been sent to Collydean.
Jean Haughey spoke about Rota Kids and our promising involvement with Coaltown of Balgonie Primary.
Wilna Roger spoke about the Fun run being organised by Muirhead Outreach at Gilvenbank Park on Sunday 21st May 2023 which we will be supporting and where one of our members Iain Oates will be participating in one of the runs. Funds being raised to go towards purchasing a caravan to be sited at Pettycur bay to be used by families that they are supporting.
The awards evening on the evening of the 25th May 2023 details were finalised. Wilna also mentioned that Go Glenrothes were closing.
The Markinch Highland games being held on Sunday 4th June was mentioned and a meeting to further discuss arrangements would be held at Wilna Rogers house on 31st May.
Geoff Sampson advised details of one of our former members John Ferris funeral. He also advised that he had been advised by Tracy Thomson, one of our Past Presidents that her father had sadly died, and the funeral would be held on Monday 22nd May 2023. Geoff also advised that he had been approached by the Glenrothes Foodbank to have somebody from Rotary to speak about Rotary at their AGM on 13th June 2023.
Linda Ballingall mentioned that as this was the 75th anniversary of Glenrothes and no arrangements appeared to be made to celebrate this occasion she was going to enquire about the floral circle at Riverside Park. Also a suggestion that a Know your clubs and societies day/weekend could be organised at the Rothes Halls.
This week Thursday 25th May 2023 is an evening meeting arrival by 6.15pm commencing at 6.30pm This week is our Annual awards evening with Jenny Gilruth MSP presenting prizes and certificates to recipients of all the school competitions. Cheques will also be presented to the Main recipients of our recent race night ie Autism Rocks Fife and Fife Gingerbread.
