On Thursday 4th August 2022 after a summer break during July President Brian Johnson, welcomed 15 club Rotarians also Assistant District Zone Governor Libby Seath and 2 guests Linda Ballingal (former member) and Derek Stahly to this our first meeting of the new Presidential Year held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.
President Brian introduced our 2 guests Linda Ballingal (former member) and Derek Stahly as they had both intimated that Linda now back in the Glenrothes area and Derek would like to join the club.
Assistant District Zone Governor Rotarian Libby Seath from the Dunfermline Carnegie Club was invited to talk as she mentioned about possible fund-raising events her club had been involved with also that District Governor Ken Mclennan was asking that all website issues were directed through the Assistant District Zone Governors for resolution.
President Brian brought up the request from Glenrothes Community Sports & Health Hub for support. We agreed to give them £500 to enable them to purchase necessary food for their foodbank during these difficult times for many. We were also going to put out a flyer as an appeal for support from our community to support them. He also spoke about a Christmas event involving the Glenrothes Baptist Church and Fife Cultural Trust that IP District Governor Heather Stuart had spoken about. Former member Dr Krishnaswamy now in St Andrews had contacted us concerning our involvement in supporting and encouraging Glenrothes students to attend Universities. Also briefly touched on were the Wee Hoose Amazon project and arranging a visit there, Kids Out in September, an ASDA collection on 24th September our Vintage afternoon Tea event at Studio8 on 23rd October and a Scottish evening.
David Cooper spoke about our Planter at the Riverside Park and the need for weeding,
Next week 11th August will be a lunch time meeting at Gilvenbank Hotel meeting at 12.45pm and commencing at 1pm where our speaker will be Mary Goodwin Wilks from the Glenrothes YMCA,
