On Thursday 15th September 2022 President Brian Johnson, welcomed 14 guests which included 13 club Rotarians, and District 1010 Governor Ken McLennan to this our lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.
President Brian Johnson commenced the meeting with a two-minute silence in respect for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Will Wishart confirmed the Kids out day last Wednesday 14th September at the Deer Park at Cupar with 120 children and carers had spent a fantastic few hours there. Andy Foster of the Deer Centre and his staff gave us a warm welcome with the rangers giving a very informative tour of the park. So many interesting introductions to the park since we last visited and certainly worth a visit to see all the animals. The Buccaneer plane, Open top bus, fire engine, trampolines and so much more for all the children and last but not least the birds of prey show.
Anne Sampson confirmed that the proposed Afternoon Tea planned for Sunday 23rd October 2022 at the Studio8 has now been cancelled. She also mentioned the club’s awareness day would take place at ASDA on Saturday 24th September from 10am – 4pm.
Doreen Gray mentioned that the Gavel match against Leven Rotary will take place at the Lundin Links Hotel on Wednesday 28th September 2022.
Our speaker District 1010 Governor Ken McLennan who brought greetings from his club Forres and his President Brian. His focus was on the 117 years of Rotary and the theme for this year “Imagine” and asking the members to imagine what our club and Rotary would be like in 5 10 years. He spoke about new members and how important it was to make Rotary memorable for them and ensuring they got involved in projects. He spoke about building a great future and ended by mentioning the Beatles song “You may say I’m a dreamer”
The Rotary Vote of thanks was given by President Brian.
The Rotary Presidents golf day will take place at Thornton Golf Club this Wednesday. 21st September 2022.
Next week 22nd September will be a lunch time meeting at Gilvenbank Hotel meeting at 12.45pm and commencing at 1.00pm with our guest speaker Lynn Smart from Glenrothes Foodbank.
