On Thursday 13th January 2022 President Brian Johnson. welcomed 16 Club Rotarians and our speaker Pam Ribbeck, to this our first lunch time ZOOM meeting of the New Year.
There were two apologies for nonattendance.
Our speaker Pam Ribbeck is a Communities Officer with Playlist for Life, a UK-wide music and dementia charity based in Glasgow. Pam gave a short presentation with slides on the benefits of personal music for people living with dementia, and how Playlist for Life are supporting families, communities and care professionals to harness the power of personal playlists to support the people they care for.
The charity was founded in 2013 by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson after the death of her mother, Mamie, who had dementia. The charity’s vision is simple: for everyone with dementia to have a unique, personal playlist and everyone who loves or cares for them to know how to use it. Over two decades of scientific research has shown that listening to a personal playlist of music can improve the lives of people living with dementia. In fact, listening to music that is personally meaningful has many psychological benefits, meaning anyone can benefit from a playlist.
Geoff Sampson gave the Rotary vote of thanks.
This coming week Thursday 20th January 2022 is a lunch time meeting with a meal at Gilvenbank Hotel commencing at 1pm with a speaker, local piper Conner Pratt.
