Lunch time meeting - 1pm - Club Business and Fellowship

On Thursday 18th November 2021 President Brian Johnson. took the chair as he welcomed 21 Rotarians, to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

There were 3 apologies for nonattendance.

This week with no speaker it gave us the opportunity to discuss club business and share in fellowship.

Iain Oates mentioned he had been in touch with the Primary schools with regards to the Ian Chalmers Trophy for the Rabbie Burns poetry Competition.

Wilna Roger mentioned the forthcoming Schools competitions namely Young Photographer which will be done electronically this year and coordinated by Kay Johnson with a Theme - The Beauty of Nature.   Entries to be sent to Club Secretary by Thursday 28th January. District final 28th February.   The Young Musician will take place on Thursday 3rd February 2022. The Young Artist proposed date is Thursday10th February at Auchmuty HS.

Geoff Sampson thanked Will Wishart and his wife who took 141 Shoe Boxes for the collection for Christmas up to Perth. He also mentioned that Rimbleton Primary School had been fantastic in their support of this scheme as to date they alone supported by staff, parents, families and children had returned 92.

Chantal Mrimi spoke about the Crocus planting, and that she had given the balance of the 4k to Southwood Primary. Glenwood High bulbs had been planted.

Scott Galloway advised he had been taken on as a board member at Fife Gingerbread and mentioned about their Christmas appeal also, he had been in conversation with Auchmuty High School where he would like to be involved with the S4-S6 classes regarding motivational speaking.

David Cooper mentioned the Reindeer Santa Trail which will be taking place at Riverside Park.

Arlene Kidd mentioned that Rotarian Rube Fernando of KEELA and his company had been awarded in The Business Initiative category, proudly sponsored by Kingdom Housing Association, in the Kingdom FM awards which recognised existing businesses across Fife that have adapted their business strategy or processes to deliver their goals, demonstrating clear vision and ambition, staff development, a strong focus on customers, an effective Marketing strategy and community involvement.

It was also mentioned that Gayle Wilson of the Leslie Community Pantry who had been awarded our Citizen of the Year award had also been recognised by Kingdom FM for best community group. Well done to Gayle and everybody who have supported the Leslie Community Pantry.

Anne Sampson mentioned that Rimbleton Primary School had shown interest in Community involvement and that she had mentioned Rotakids which may be something that would interest them, she said she would pursue this.

Geoff Sampson mentioned to members that Rotarian Kenny Crichton who had been hospitalised last week was now out of hospital and on the mend.

It was agreed by the club that they would support previously contacted local good causes in their Christmas appeals.

This coming week Thursday 25th November is an evening meeting with a meal at Gilvenbank Hotel arrival from 6pm with meeting commencing at 6.30pm, this will be our Scottish Evening with a fiddler, Connor Pratt and friends from the Black Watch and the singers from the Vintage afternoon tea.  Seats are available if you are interested in attending,
