On Thursday 5th August 2021 President Brian Johnson welcomed 16 Club Rotarians to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.
Today’s meeting was our first business meeting on ZOOM. In view of the recent Government announcement with restrictions being further eased much of our discussion was about how our meetings would be carried out in the future. President Brian Johnson having had a meeting with the Gilvenbank Hotel said they are able to take us back at lunch time. After lengthy discussions it was decided that from the beginning of September for the 1st and 3rd Thursday’s we would meet at Gilvenbank for a lunch time meeting. The 2nd Thursday would be a ZOOM meeting and the 4th Thursday an evening meeting at 6.30pm for a meal with a speaker or social. It was agreed we go ahead with a fundraiser on the 3rd of October akin to the successful vintage afternoon tea held a few years ago to be held at Studio8 in Glenrothes with singing and dancing.
President Brian Johnson had the pleasure of and delighted to induct his first new member into Rotary. His wife Kay is hopefully the first of many to join Rotary this Presidential year. Kay has been involved with the Glenrothes Foodbank and heavily involved with St Margaret's Church has supported Brian during his time in Rotary and she will be a welcome addition to the club.
Last years treasurer and now budgetary controller Walter Fletcher aided by a PowerPoint presentation ran through the accounts for the year ending 30th June 2021.
This coming week Thursday 12th August 2021 at 1pm on ZOOM we hope to have speaker Ian Gilray of the Beekeeper association
