Lunch time ZOOM meeting - George Cutthill from Fife Voluntary Action

Thu, Apr 1st 2021 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

.

On Thursday 1st April 2021 in the absence of President Geoff Sampson. Senior Vice President Brian Johnson welcomed 15 club Rotarians and speaker George Cuthill to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.

Five apologies for non-attendance were received.

Our speaker this week was George Cuthill who develops projects for Fife Voluntary Action, the Third Sector Interface (TSI) in the Fife Council area. They are an independent charity that receives funding from key public sector agencies to ensure the third sector is robust, resilient and delivers high quality services for the people of Fife. They support, develop, and represent community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises, and volunteering. They have around 35 staff members covering these activities across Fife, operating from our offices in Glenrothes, Cupar and Kirkcaldy. They provide a broad range of support to third sector organisations and have expertise in a wide range of skills and topics including governance, funding, legislation, policy, volunteering, managing people, planning and problem solving. If you have any queries, concerns or difficulties then please contact them, almost all the support we offer is provided at no cost. George’s current project is to recruit board members for Third sector organisations of which there are over 2,000, community groups, voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises across Fife, half of whom are looking for new board members. Your skills and lived experience would add significant value to the organisations and most importantly you would bring along your common sense. Meetings are usually held every other month and meetings last for around 2 hours, so a huge time commitment is not required. In return you would add new contacts to your network and make a real contribution to your local community. The volunteering team would match where you live and your interests with a local organisation. If you are interested please get in touch by ‘phone, email or FaceTime. George’s mobile is 07768038202 and his email address is george@fva.org.
