On Thursday 11th March 2021 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 22 guests including 21 club Rotarians, and Chantal Mrimi guest of President Geoff Sampson to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.
No apologies for non-attendance were received.
We did not have a speaker this week instead we had the meeting split between incoming President Brian Johnson giving us his thoughts on how he would like to see our club moving forward in his year as President and a spring quiz organised by Wilna Roger.
Brian had spoken about all we were good at prior to the Pandemic, that being our involvement with schools and our involvement in the past year endeavouring to support the community and getting involved with Friends of Riverside Park (FORP). Brian would like to see us getting more involved with the environment and he was looking to reach out to groups in the community to see how we could move this forward with the possibility of starting another Rotary club with their aim primarily focussed on the environment.
After Brian’s update Wilna Roger had a fun quiz which everybody seemed to enjoy which was related to spring with 30 questions being read out. Jim Boyd did exceptionally well winning with a score of 25, certainly a real dark horse.
The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Geoff Sampson.
Iain Haywood advised that we run an Auction for a week in March with Golf associated prizes including 4 balls and clothing.
This coming week Thursday 18thMarch 2021 our meeting will be held on ZOOM at 1pm when we will be given a talk by District Governor Alistair Robb who will be talking about Rotary Membership. During the meeting President Geoff Sampson will have the pleasure of inducting Chantal Mrimi into the club as a new member.
