Charlie House

Louise Bone from Charlie House and Katie Bremner delivered an interesting presentation on how this charity originated to support NE families. The nearest centre is currently in Kinross which is one of only two Scottish centres. Their ambition is to build a new centre in Aberdeen and so far, they have raised 5.1 million with a target of 8 million.

Charlie House is there to support children and young babies with limiting life-threatening conditions and support their families with activities so they can all participate together e.g. paddle boarding and accessible pony trekking. They also offer short family breaks in Cupar which can offer respite for families, carers and sibling support sessions. The support is needed as the demand has increased by 15% in the last year with 123 families participating in the NE. 

They have fund raising events such as "Support a brick" with 4000 bricks needed to build a house with specialist bedrooms. In March, a "Fizz and Fashion" event will occur in Elgin and they are always looking for volunteers. Their logo is fittingly, "Life is Precious" and their aim is to have all round support in the NE of Scotland.
