Elgin Cycling Club & Breeze Group

This week we were joined by Lorna and Diane who both spoke passionately about Elgin Cycling Club and the benefits it offers to members.

Founded in 1981 the club has developed and changed over the years. After big changes in 2020 they have become more inclusive and have attracted an equal balance of male and female members.

They currently have around 160 members with approximately 75 female members and 90 male members. This statistic is a rarity in cycling clubs.

Among the initiatives introduced to the club by Diane and Lorna are, 'Bike and Bleather' a gently paced ride with time and space to chat, Breeze rides, female only rides focused on building cycling confidence, Sunday socials, these happen every Sunday whatever the weather! The club's newest initiative, that is still to officially be launched has been called Get on a Bike, so watch this space!

In recognition of Lorna, Diane and the club’s hard work and brilliant initiatives, they were awarded Scotland's Cycling Club of the Year 2023, a huge accolade especially for a club based so far north.
