Sandhurst - King's Parade Graduation

Thursday 11 January

Sam gave members a fascinating insight to her day out to Sandhurst where her and husband Iain were able to see their son Stewart graduate.

There was history of the 3 services, facts about the army officer training the largest officer training which culminates in the sovereign parade at Sandhurst.

This was the 200th Sovereign parade which was very special as the new monarch King Charles arrived for the 1st time and presented the new colours of the Sandhurst flags. Special commemorative services were held, and the officer cadets were asked to serve their country and then marched for over an hour across the parade ground with the traditional horse riding the steps of old college. Each regiment held a 3-course meal with Sam and Iain as proud parents watching as their son Stewart was presented with his pips (rank slides) by the highest-ranking officer in the logistical core.

A moving day with history, tradition and a few tears by proud parents.
