The competition aims to encourage young people to: –

• experiment with photography

• use digital and/or traditional methods of photography

• demonstrate interpretation of the topic

• express personal ideas through the medium of photography

There are three age categories:

• Up to and including 10 years old

• 11 to 13 years old

• 14 to 17 years old

You must have been in one of these age categories on 31^st August 2024 –

Whitby & District Competition:  The deadline for entries is Saturday 30 November 2024. Winners will be announced in January 2025. There is a certificate for every entrant and prizes will be awarded to winners of each age group at the Local Competition level.

The winning entry in each age group will automatically be entered into The District Competition where it will be judged along with entries from other Local Competitions. This will take place January/February 2025.

National Final. The winning entry per age group from the District Competitions is submitted into the National Competition. Deadline 30^th April 2025.The sponsors Jessops will produce an A3 canvas of the winning photo for each of the 3 category winners.

Your task

To produce one photograph based upon the theme ‘Wonderful Water’ and mobile phones or cameras may be used. 

To accompany the submission, each entrant MUST provide a brief sentence describing the relationship of the photograph to the theme.  

The photograph must be submitted via Digital Format and be at least 1500 pixel in size on the longest length (therefore, please email your photograph in its original size).

The entry and supporting information, sent electronically, MUST NOT EXCEED 15Mb per email sent.
