What is a Octoberfest?

The annual Rotary Octoberfest Fun Run is upon us again and will be happening on Sunday 11th October. The event is for primary school children from Whitby and the surrounding area, combining fun, fitness and fundraising in a lively community setting.

Each year, young participants take part in a friendly run while raising sponsorship for charitable causes, helping to build an early awareness of giving back and supporting others. The event encourages participation at all levels, with the emphasis on enjoyment, inclusion and community spirit rather than competition.

This year's chosen charity is Operation Smile, an organisation providing free cleft lip palate surgery, medical care and healthcare training to children and communities in need around the world.

The Fun Run continues to be made possible through the support of local schools, families and volunteers, alongside the dedication of Rotary members who organise and deliver the event each year.

Participants are consistently praised for their enthusiasm and generosity, with the event providing a positive and memorable experience that brings the community together while supporting important charitable work.

As the event grows year on year, the Rotary Octoberfest Fun Run remains a valued part of the local calendar, inspiring young people to stay active, have fun and make a difference.
