Wensleydale Rotary Charter and Handover 2019

Fri, Jun 21st 2019 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

It is fair to say that our Charter night and handover was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Outgoing president David Spashett handed over to Wensleydale's first female president Susan Rogers at The Creamery in Hawes.

The guest speaker was Alan Hinkes OBE, an English Himalayan high-altitude mountaineer from Northallerton. He is the first and remains the only, British mountaineer to claim all 14 Himalayan eight-thousanders (mountains above 8,000m in height). Witty and informative, and still with all his fingers and toes intact.

The food, as ever, was excellent, and it was lovely to welcome fellow Rotarians from around the region. There was a lot of laughter and fun around the room, and basically a great evening all round.
