Rotary Clubs from Knaresborough, Settle, Upper Eden, and Newton Aycliffe were represented.
Assistant District Governor, Hazel Haas, representing District Governor Keith Davison, who was attending RI Convention in Lisbon, praised the Club for "hitting above its weight" with its community, youth, and international projects.
Col. Mel Pears, Commanding Officer of the Personnel Recovery Unit (PRU) at Catterick described the development of the Unit over the past two years and gave examples of how it helped severely injured soldiers rehabilitate both physically and mentally. He thanked Rotary in District 1040, particularly, for their help in finding rewarding jobs in civillian life for these men and women.
President John Borrill gave an account of the clubs activities during this Rotary year and handed over the Presidency to John Morton.
An excellent evening finished with a talk from Col. Derek Bishop who gave a series of anecdotes from his 40 years in the Army.
