We are delighted to invite you to Ripon Rotary, with our meetings located at the Rugby Club, Mallorie Park Drive, HG4 2QD. .
To assist you, we have prepared a ‘bullet point’ briefing note to assist your presentation and general information about the Club and our weekly meetings. We offer a friendly and relaxed environment.
Key points are:
- Our Meeting is held on Tuesday commencing at 12:30 pm;
- Ample car parking is on site but care needs to be exercised entering and leaving the premises;
- We would recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes earlier to ensure you are familiar with the layout and technology;
- Sam Stoddart, the Club Manager, will introduce himself and explain the technical facilities on offer;
- The digital equipment is as follows:- HDMI CONNECTIONS to Wide Screen Television or Multi Media Projector are available. A suitable Laptop computer can be provided if we are notified in advance. Most speakers provide their own or bring their presentation loaded on a USB Stick.
- We find from experience a clip-on microphone is most suitable, though we need to alert you to keep any rustling papers/hand movements away from the sound system;
- Any leaflet material you wish to distribute will be of value and can be distributed before or after your presentation;
- Meetings are well attended and you can anticipate between 25 and 35 members present;
- Where you position yourself is entirely with you: members will reposition their chairs, though it is a fair reflection that deafness is an increasing affliction among us;
- Quite properly you will be entertained to lunch.
- Meals are 2 courses: either starter and main; or main and desert. Please alert us to any dietary requirements or your preferred personal choice of the vegetarian option;
- You need to anticipate that there is a formal side to the Meeting, with business and club activities outlined by our President, Secretary and Treasurer;
- Following the meal there is the formal toast to the King; and at the close of the Meeting the formal Rotary toast; members (where able) stand for both toasts;
- Once these matters are dealt with, you have around 30 minutes for your presentation, with generally a limit of three/four questions to follow;
- Many speakers are very agreeable to remaining after the close of the Meeting to answer further questions and discuss with individual members a particular interest they have expressed;
- If you have presented at other Rotary clubs you will note that each has its own identity, traditions and practices.
Can we thank you on behalf of Ripon Rotary in agreeing to join with us and sharing your experiences and ‘story’.
