Charities We Work With

We work with many local groups and Charities

President Speech 2021/22

Our club celebrates another year.

We have been actively working in our communities throughout the year and whilst raising funds and thus donating our charitable monies, its important to remember that the togetherness we all have within our Club, is what makes things happen.

David Attenborough once said, “the species that involves all parts of the family, ensures the species survives”.

This should be our club Motto

Our two charities, Baby Basics and Heartwize have received our first stage donation, and I look forward building on our relationships further over the next two years.

The Bradgate Park Calendar estimates at raising annually 6k for the Park Trust.

We have donated over £700 to our local libraries. The relationships with all our libraries are very important to all our members and I would like to thank Markfield Library tonight for hosting our celebration tonight.

All our community libraries do a fantastic job.

We have helped move a Piano, helped repair and maintain Defibrillator’s locally, planted a flower bed in Groby and donated £50 to Age Uk.

These donations ensure longevity from previous charitable projects, thus ensuring a continued support structure for our communities.

Internationally

We have donated

£500 to Red Cross for Ukraine

£50 to the Solar Nepal Project ensuring electricity for a whole village.

These are small but important amounts, there are many more thus ensuring our commitment to the bigger projects of Rotary.

In Rotary terms we are a young club, we have breakfast, zoom meetings, fantastic social events but as a club we never stop planning events.

We have received grants from Leicestershire County Council for our well being events, these being appreciated by our community in difficult times. Our guests enjoy a coffee, cake, music and bingo; but more importantly just a chat.

We have a new Santa Sleigh, fabricated by one of our members with employees who work locally for Druck. This has ensured future donations for years to come, we thank them so much, thank you.

Our polio campaign, in planting thousands of crocuses in Markfield. This highlighting one of Rotary’s goals of eradicating Polio from the world.

Bradgate Rotary isn’t a Club; it’s a family.

We all add to the biscuit tin, rarely taking anything out.

So my personal thanks are to all our member’s and friends, without which nothing would happen. I cannot name names but we all understand what you do for our club and the wider community; thank you.

I would like to thank the Stamford Arms, Groby in being Justin and Wayne for their continued support, a relationship that is so important to our club and our charities.

Moving forward

To our new President 2022/23 Roy, I hope your year adopts the ethos of less emails, more charitable donations, the odd Scarecrow, a few flower bombs and the odd real ale or a glass of Merlot on nights like tonight.

Thank you everyone for celebrating our year with us tonight, if you have any ideas, projects or just a spare hour, we will always welcome you and we are here to chat tonight.

Brian
