On 15 March 2013, Bury Abbey Rotary Club organised a sell-out charity fundraiser which helped swell the coffers on an otherwise cold and dreary evening. Club members, their friends and cohorts gathered together for a Curry and Casino evening kindly hosted by Bury Rugby Club. Guests were able to gamble away a limited supply of free chips to get into the swing of betting on the roulette wheel, and the turn of the cards. Having learned the ropes with the freebies, the game participants were then free to put their pension funds at risk by putting their own money on the tables. A touch of vice, but all in the best possible taste, and with the best possible outcome for the Club charity account.
