Rivers Monitoring Group
We organise a team of citizen scientists to monitor the quality of our local river water.
Our citizen science group is a community group sponsored by Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse
Every month we measure the levels of nitrates and phosphates in the Oughton, Purwell and Hiz.
You can see the results here on the FreshwaterWatch dashboard
We also monitor the riverflies who live in the river gravels- they are the canaries of river health.
