Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank is a small registered charity who receive donations of non-perishable foods and financial donations from individuals, communities and businesses, to give free of charge to organisations working with vulnerable people in need of food.

It is non-denominational and is Bradford's original food bank, operating since 2004.

They do not assess need. They depend on the skill, commitment and ongoing support from the professional carers whose job it is to support the vulnerable. They make sure the organisation can do this by supplying the food required to keep them in contact with their clients and help them overcome short-term problems.

If you know somebody in need of a food bag please be aware they do not give out parcels directly to individuals. Please ask them to get any professional working with them (eg social worker, welfare advisor, teacher, minister, housing or health worker) to contact the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank

Those organisations working with vulnerable people contact the food bank to request food for people they know who are in need. Then they arrange for the organisation to collect the food from them (whenever possible).

They can provide food bags for both individuals and families and are respectful of dietary and cultural requirements.

Organisations working with vulnerable people to support them to overcome food poverty who need food bags from the food bank should fill in the contact form on their web site. They will then send details of their process and ask them to complete a registration form.

DONATIONS

They welcome donations of non-perishable food items.

With bulk donations they can arrange collection, if necessary. Please get in touch.

They encourage groups to keep one of their Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank collection boxes at their meeting place to encourage a regular steady flow of donations.

If possible, they will arrange for donors to drop off items that they have collected.

They also have a number of food donations points all over the larger metropolitan area – see their web site for more information: - www.bradfordfoodbank.com
