Charity Golf Tournament at Ilkley Golf Club

Wed, Jun 19th 2024 at 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

We held our 32nd annual golf tournament at Ilkley Golf Club. Funds raised to date now stand at almost £200,000 which over the years has benefitted many local charities.

Bradford Blaize Charity Golf Tournament

Once again, we were lucky with the weather - dry and not too hot or cold with only a gentle breeze. Despite this the scores were on the lower end of normal with one player saying that the course was playing very long. As in previous years the format was Teams of four players. The competition was played in the Stableford format off a full valid club handicap adjusted for Slope. The two best scores per hole counted on the first nine holes, the three best scores on the next six holes and all four scores on the last three holes.

The top five teams were all bunched together with 3 teams on 99 points and 2 on 98. In order to separate them between first second and third a count of the scores on the back 9 was undertaken and the ensuing result was: -

Place Team Score
1      Watson Batty   99 and 56 on the back 9
2      Meredith's Marvels   99 and 53 on the back 9
3      Zenith International    99 and 52 on the back 9
Nearest the Pin   Paul Smith of Towler Staines      1.19 Metres from the pin
Straightest Drive     Colin Usher   On the 18th

Raffle prizes went to Wayne Parker, Ian Crawford, Tony France, Dave Tomlinson, Jimmy Saywell and Steve Woolly.

Thanks to those entering teams (some of whom have been supporting the event since it started). Thanks also to our sponsors: -
