Meeting at Bracken Hall Countryside Centre

Wed, May 8th 2024 at 11:45 am - 2:00 pm

Richard White who spoke to us in January showed us around the centre. Speaker Finder Derek O'Hearne, Visitors Host, Grace & Banners Roy Tate, Cash Desk & Sergeant at Arms David Burrows

We initially gathered in the classroom half of the building where Richard gave a quick 5-minute update on the workings of Bracken Hall Countryside Centre. This was a condensed version of the talk that he gave when he visited the club see https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/page.php?PgID=916299&ClubID=183.

He explained that Stuart & Sally Illingworth owned the building and rented it to Baildon Parish Council on a peppercorn rent. He then passed around photographs of Shipley Glen dating from around 1900 onwards.

Richard then took members on a short walk around the area and afterwards encouraged them to look at the museum half of the building.

This was followed by a buffet lunch next door at Bracken Hall House with a lovely buffet lunch put on by Sally who owns and runs the Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
