The Rotary Club of Bradford Blaize held their 30th Annual Charity Golf Competition at Ilkley Golf Club. The total raised for charity since inception is £180,000

Ilkley Golf Club

We held our 30th Charity Golf tournament at Ilkley Golf Club, one of the best golf courses in Yorkshire. The event raised money for Local and other Rotary charities including donations this year for Ukraine. Local charities that have benefitted over the last 12 month include Life Education (Primary School education), The Forest of Bradford (Tree Planting), Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, Children's Heart Surgery Fund, Embrace Child Victims of Crime, Marie Curie & Martin House Hospices and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Rotary connected charities that are supported include Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Dictionaries4LIfe where we distribute over 200 dictionaries to 5 primary schools in the Bradford area.

The course was designed with input from Dr. Alister Mackenzie,  then a member of Ilkley Golf Club who went on to design many other premier courses, including assisting Bobby Jones in the design of Augusta National Club, home of the US Masters Golf tournament.

This year's winners of First prize were LCF Law, Second Naylor Wintersgill and Third Alan Arthur's Allstars. There were also prizes for nearest the pin won by Mr Templeman and straightest drive won by Mr Matlin (nearest the centre line).

The competition was again played in the Stableford format off a full valid club handicap adjusted for Slope. On the first 9 holes the best 2 scores count, then on the next 6 the best 3 with all 4 players’ scores counting for the last 3 holes.

Thanks must go to those entering teams (some of whom have been supporting the event since it started). In particular thanks go to Ilkley Golf Club for their generosity in allowing us to hold the event on their wonderful course. Also our sponsors who this year were:

  • Vertu Jaguar Land Rover
  • Brook Taverner
  • Fox Engineering Group Ltd
  • Gordons
  • Pennine Signs
  • LCF Law
  • Naylor Wintersgill
  • Watson Batty
