A brief report on my visit to Liverpool last Wednesday 22nd October 2014
The Presentation went very well, far better than I had expected. The CEO (Jane Tomkinson) came to meet us in the Out patient's Dept, and brought several (8 or 9) other senior staff including the Head of Communications for the Hospital Trust. We were all ushered into a quiet area away from the busy Outpatient Clinic. After my short speech, I handed over the cheque. Jane then presented Marilyn with a bouquet of flowers which, we discovered later, were from Jane herself. How very thoughtful.
They were clearly very appreciative of the donation and I am sure the Club, and the Hospital, will receive some (? considerable) good publicity. Their head of communications will be sending me the official photo and editorial for approval prior to sending it to several newspapers, incl Yorkshire Post, Liverpool Echo, Daily Telegraph and ....?. I have also agreed to tell "My Story" in writing and on film which will be used for training and educational purposes, and/or for inclusion on the LHCH website.
Jane Tomkinson ( lower picture reading Barrie's letter to the assembled throng) will also be sending out a 'Tweet' with details of the presentation etc.
Then we moved into the bustling main reception for the photo shoot. The picture shows : L to R, Nicki (Outpatient Dept); Deborah Harrington ( Consultant Aortic Surgeon); Mr Aung Oo ( My Surgeon); G; M; Mike Roberts ( Aortic Nurse Practitioner); Jane Tomkinson (Chief Executive).
After several photos and more discussions we went to the ward to meet with some of the nurses, and then dispersed.
A great occasion, and Marilyn & I were extremely proud to represent Members and wives of Bradford Blaize.
