Plans for the year:
John Barrow (Chair). Alan Arthur and Peter Meredith
1) Rotary Foundation - Direct Giving to the Annual Fund
In this, as in previous years, we hope and anticipate that all Members will make a Gift Aid payment towards our Rotary International Foundation Charity.
- The Rotary International benchmark for giving of this kind is $100 pa – approx. £73 pa. Whilst Blaize has never aspired to donate at this level, Members have each made a Donation annually since 1983, when our Charity was created. Last year each Member Gift-aided £30.
- It should be noted that Rotary International (the source of District Grants) has, for a number of years, been suffering a pattern of declining Donations into the Foundation Annual Fund ‘Pot’. This, in turn, has resulted in a smaller percentage of Foundation Charity funds being allocated to District Grants.
- For 2026’27, Members are asked make an increase of £5 (to £35) for their Foundation Gift-aid, to be collected towards the end of this Calendar Year.
District Grants and Other Grants
Stephen Ellis PHF has run a very tight ship for District Grants since 2024’25, with all necessary actions taking place on time. His efficiency is a most welcome relief, set against the rather ‘difficult’ times over the immediate prior years.
- The Committee will enquire amongst other Club Committees, in this last part of the CURRENT Rotary Year - as to their intentions regarding applications to District and/or others for Grants.
- These may include:-
- Kids Out via the Youth Committee (one Candidate);
- Rotary Youth Leadership via the Youth Committee (one Candidate); and
- Tree Planting via the Environmental Committee.
- Those Grant Applications to District which receive Approval will go forward to Rotary International for confirmation.
We expect to be informed by the end of September whether Application(s) made in June/ July 2026 have been successful, and if so, to what extent. Clubs should receive District Grant monies allocated to them during October 2026.
