Rotary Club of Bradford

Report on the work of the Club in Rotary Year 2024/25

An account of the community service given and money distributed to charities by the 20 members of the Rotary Club of Bradford during the Rotary year 2024/25 (1st July to 30th June inclusive).

To counter the membership decline of recent years due to the incapacity or death of long serving active members, and mirroring the decline of many Lunchtime Clubs, we are merging next Rotary year with Bingley to improve both Clubs’ viability in terms of serving the community. However, as set out below, a central core of half our membership has achieved a very creditable final ‘Bradford’ year.

Almost £8,800 was raised from various events, grant applications, internal club fundraising supermarket collections and members donations. Using these funds raised and cash in hand we have actually donated over £10,400 of which over 57% went to organisations working in Bradford.

In the past 12 years the Club donated almost £137k and 69% went to support Bradford services.

Some headlines about our service and support to the community in Bradford and beyond

This last Rotary Year we………………….

·         Helped the Principle Trust a local charity providing respite and holidays for needy and disabled children with a donation of £2,000, including a £500 Rotary District Grant.

·         Made significant donations to four other local charities supporting local children.

·         Continued support to the Bradford run charity ‘Healthcare4all’ which organises the provision of healthcare in rural Pakistan.

·         Supported four other local health related charities including the pioneering Bradford Burns Unit and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

·         Supported two children’s activity charities at Nell Bank and Bradford Park Avenue.

·         Continued to liaise with our Interact Club (introducing Rotary ideals to the young) in their continuing service to the community. Their impressive work is not included here.

·         Supported a Rotary linked scheme to provide direct assistance to people in Ukraine with a donation of £800 and arranging three collections/deliveries of requested items.

·         Continued our involvement with local schools; in total this year two schools benefitted.

·          Arranged for a local inner City school student to attend youth leadership training.

·         Undertook an Environmental litter pick by Club members to tidy up prior to the Remembrance Day event at Undercliffe Cemetery.

·         Arranged for Club Officers to attend and participate in Civic Remembrance Day events.

·         Publicly promoted Rotary whilst staffing four days of supermarket collections.

Below is a breakdown of how we dispersed our charitable donations this last year.
