Rotary Club of Bradford
Report on the work of the Club in Rotary Year 2022/23
An account of the community service given and money distributed to charities by the 25 members of the Rotary Club of Bradford during the Rotary year 2022/23 (1st July to 30th June inclusive).
Despite a membership decline in recent years due to the incapacity or death of long serving active members and some members unable to engage with Club activities due to other commitments, a central core of under half the membership has had a very worthwhile year, as is reflected below.
In total the club raised over £13,100 from public events, successful grant applications, other internal club fundraising and members donations. Two thirds of money raised came from events open to non-members and/or the general public. Using the funds we raised we have actually dispersed over £11,900 of which over 61% went to Bradford charities. (NB. Our audited accounts are published later.)
Community, Youth, Vocational & Environmental Service work in Bradford
This last Rotary Year we………………….
Supported needy people in Bradford with donations totalling £2,627, being respectively £1,427 and £1200 to the Bradford Soup Run and the Bradford Food Bank.
Used a Rotary District Foundation Grant and some of our funds to give £2,250 to the Bradford run charity ‘Healthcare4all’ which organises healthcare in rural Pakistan.
Continued supervision of our Interact Club (introducing Rotary ideals to the young) as they continued their service to help the community. Their work is not included here.
Sponsored a local inner City school student to attend youth leadership training, and we also provided transport to and from the distant venue.
Continued to be involved with several local schools; in total this year four schools benefitted from our involvement or financial donations.
Supported organisations working with young people by donations to ‘Centrepoint’ who work with disadvantaged youth and separately to a local theatre group for children.
Did an environmental litter pick prior to Remembrance Day at Undercliffe Cemetery.
Attended and participated in Civic Remembrance Day events.
Celebrated the Club’s recent Centenary with a special flower bed in Lister Park.
Organised and hosted two well attended public lectures.
Organised a Christmas Carol Service in the Cathedral for local Service organisations.
Worked at filling shoeboxes for the needy - in support of another local Rotary Club.
