                                     Rotary Club of Bradford

Report on local Service and  Charitable donations in Rotary Year 2021/22

This is a provisional account of the service given and / or money distributed to charities
(actually sent or approved by Club Council) by the 32 members of the Rotary Club of Bradford during the course of the Rotary year 2021/22 (1st July to 30th June inclusive).

The club raised over £8,600 this year from social events, successful grant applications, other fundraising and members donations. Using this we have actually dispersed over £ 9,100 of which over 62%  went to Bradford charities. (NB Provisional figures, a full audited account will be produced later.)

The pandemic’s aftermath affected the year as in person meetings did not resume till October, limiting our ability to raise funds from the public. Much of our income has come from Rotarians and families and friends. Also the absence of some members limited our direct service work.

Community, Youth, Vocational & Environmental Service work in Bradford

·         Our funds together with a Rotary District Foundation Grant saw us give £2,450  to  ‘Theodora Trust’ whose ‘Giggle Doctors’ entertain children at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

·         One of our two Interact Clubs (introducing schoolchildren to Rotary ideals) has remained active in their work to help the community, supervised by our members. These children also gave service and raised funds which are not included here.

·         We sponsored a local inner City school student to attend youth leadership training.

·         We have continued to work on an ongoing basis with two local schools

·         Environmental service included a pre-Remembrance litter pick at Undercliffe Cemetery.

·         We have celebrated the Club’s Centenary viz:-  a Civic Reception - A special flower bed in Lister Park - a Charter meeting appropriately attended by 100 Rotarians and guests.
