Phil Godfrey was a railwayman for 38 years, mainly as a Project Manager on Infrastructure projects.
He retired (early) in 2003, to look after his late wife, Christine, who was becoming increasingly disabled, due to the effects of APS Syndrome.
She has been mis-diagnosed due to a lack of awareness, by the medical profession, about this disorder.
From late 2015, he became an Ambassador for APS Support UK and spent 12 months travelling across the Country, raising awareness about APS Syndrome through local Rotary Clubs that he visited.
To raise money for, and to spread awareness of APS for APS Support UK because knowledge of APS is currently extremely poor
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition in which there is an increased tendency for the blood to clot. The condition can cause strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli and DVTs. In pregnancy, APS is a leading cause of recurrent miscarriage and stillbirth.
