Rotary trip to the north-east, April 30th to May 2nd
At 9am on Saturday we set out from the Dubrovnik Hotel, for our annual weekend away, it was a bit overcast, but by our first port of call, Durham, the sun was out, after a couple of hours in Durham we set off for Alnwick, we arrived just after lunch, and received a nice welcome and a cup of tea or coffee, a few members went to Walkworth Castle the rest looked round Alnwick, most called at the famous Barter Books. The evening we met in the lobby (happy as City had confirmed their place in the playoffs, and Guiseley after 20 mins were 3 – 0 up, later to finish 4-3 and stay in there league) and went to Lilburns bar and had an excellent meal, on returning to the hotel a few had a nightcap in the bar.
Day 2 we set off for Cragside, a very interesting place, then after lunch we travelled to Lindisfarne (some know it as Holy Island) to visit the castle and village.
We returned to the Hotel for a fellowship meal joined by Damian our driver, after drinks in the President gigantic room. A few had a nightcap in the bar.
Day 3 we set off on our way home, calling at the Bowes museum in Barnard Castle, had a guided tour and finally watched the Silver automaton Swan do it stuff, and finally back home for tea.
A good time was had by all and well done to Jack and Keith for keeping the moaning Minnies happy.
