On 30th September 2020 Cardiff Breakfast Rotary held a Curry and Choir event using the mysteries of ‘Zoom technology’.
The event was attended by Rotarians and their guests for a delicious curry prepared by the award winning Indian Chilled Food Take Away –The Gateway of India - based in the village of Rhiwbina. The authentic dishes prepared were outstanding and Moslaur Rahman, the proprietor, and his team worked extremely hard to make sure that our evening was a success. Members from our club were ready and waiting at 14:00 outside the Gateway of India to pick up and deliver 57 ‘Meal Deals’ to all our guests. Despite the torrential downpour it was a lot of fun!
Entertainment was provided by ‘The Cardiff County and Vale of Glamorgan Youth Choir’ a group of young very talented choristers who had been invited to sing in Lisbon during the summer. But, like many other planned events, their trip was cancelled due to COVID 19.
During the evening they sang five songs, closing the event with ‘A Wonderful World’, a tribute to ‘All the Key Workers of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.’
Everyone enjoyed the evening and had a great time as they were moved by our ‘technical duo’ from waiting room to main room to breakout rooms, where they spent an hour eating, chatting and having a good time.
This highly successful event enabled Cardiff Breakfast Rotary, in partnership with the Gateway of India, to raise £905 for Guide Dogs for the Blind, End Polio Now and many other worthwhile causes.
