WE GIVE THE BEAR A NAME ......
MEET “THEODOPOLIUS” (Theo)
Theo has had lots of adventures; both in the UK and abroad; visited Sydney Harbour; had afternoon tea and helped celebrate the 100th Centenary of the Rotary Club of Leicester (our “mother” club) helping to raise funds and awareness of the campaign to End Polio Now.
Planting purple crocuses
The Crocus was chosen as the purple colour matched the dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunised.
Rotary International's Purple4Polio project has been supported by the Club, with 5,000 purple crocuses planted in five places in Leicestershire in 2017 including...
- Brocks Hill Country Park;
- Leicester Cathedral gardens;
- The Orchard @ Nat Trust Stoneywell;
- Wyggeston Wood
- Canine Partners, Osgathorpe.
They have flowered since the Spring of 2017, being a visible reminder of the aim to eradicate Poliomyelitis world-wide, and also mark the 100th Anniversary of The Rotary Foundation.
