Another successful Paul Wellman Trophy Golf Competition
The competition took place at Three Rivers Golf Club Jubilee Course on 27th July when members and friends enjoyed a not-too-serious day of golf for the Paul Wellman Trophy. The trophy is presented annually in memory of one of our past members
As luck would have it the members and friends who contested this Rayleigh Mill Rotary event managed to dodge the showers on what was forecast to be some quite changeable weather conditions
The day started off with the traditional bacon rolls and coffee and the eager participants were out on the course for a 10:30 tee-off. 6 teams of three then then skirmished their way round a course that was in good condition and in warm but cloudy weather.
Results were varied with some participants more satisfied with their play than others.....and some achieving a win because no-one else had bothered to contest it!!
The competition was followed by a hearty meal and the prize-giving.
This year the Paul Wellman Trophy was won by Carl Watson who came in with a score of 41 points. Alan Clark was runner-up. The winner of the lady’s prize went to Jackie Wellman and the competitions for the longest drive and nearest the pin went to Carl Watson and Bruce Broadbent, respectively. Rob Kitchin took the prize for the best visitor with Bruce again runner-up and John Cuthbertson got the consolation prize.
