Rotary Disability Games

Volunteering at the games

On Sunday 12th April 5 of our members attended the Disability Games held at Radcliffe College. Namely President Julie Kydd, IPDG Chris Knight, President Elect Malcolm Collins, PP Mark Arjoo and Helen Jepson. Also part of the team was Don Bailey formerly of Rotary Club Coalville Belvoir.

There were 125 competitors taking part on the day. The participants were supported by carers, parents/family and their team mates. They took part in a selection of 11 sports activities, all separately assigned to 11 Rotary Clubs that organised separtate sub teams to ensure each ran smoothly. There was a workforce of 100 volunteers.

DLL Rory Underwood also paid a visit to the games and was welcomed with much excitement.

It was the last time that the event was held in Leicestershire as next year the games move to Northampton.
