Paddington Bear pays a visit to Ashby
Paddington was spotted in Ashby eating his jam sandwich and insisted on being photographed with President Margaret Hawksworth.
An excellent new addition to put Ashby de la Zouch even more on the map !!
Looking out over to our Rotary Peace Garden and nestled in the WI garden he certainly is a draw to young and old. President Margaret, complete with chain certainly took time to visit.
Queues formed of people of all ages, and this has already drawn many visitors into the town in a very short space of time.
Negotiated by the town’s BID organisation, Ashby is one of 23 towns in the UK to have a statue of the famous bear. All the other towns are much bigger than us, so we are proud to have him with us. Initially, it was aimed at promoting the Paddington in Peru film; he will be a permanent and well-loved feature in Ashby de la Zouch.
