School play equipment funding

Through generous Rotary funding, new play equipment has been installed at Starlight School, Bakau Gambia

Through generous District Grant funding of Beds, Bucks and Herts Rotary District (1260) and the Milton Keynes Grand Union Rotary Club, new school play equipment has been supplied and installed at the Starlight School in Bakau, Gambia.

This school is located in the region of the Bakau drainage project also supported by Rotary District 1260 and MK Grand Union Rotary Club.

THe Starlight School was founded by MKGU Rotarian Chris Hayter through The Oasis Project, a charity she established in 2007. The School is now responsible for the education of over 200 children.  Chris was awarded a Rotary Chamption of Change award in 2021 for her work.

Tom Griffin, President of Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, commented: “What Chris has managed to achieve through The Oasis Project is truly inspiring.  Through her unselfish actions and dedication she has helped bring about a better life and brighter future for the people of Bakau.
