For many years Rotary International has been participating in the fight to eradicate polio from the world. You can find out much more about this campaign at https://www.endpolio.org/.
Can Milton Keynes Grand Union Rotarians and friends not do arithmetic??? How can 33 + 20 = 1750???
Well, at Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands Golf Club 33 golfers plus 20 diners raised £1750 for the Rotary ‘End Polio’ campaign. This was the 17th year of this annual golf competition and many attendees had supported it every year.
Grand Union Rotary Members donated many of the excellent raffle prizes as well as ProShopGolf, Stacey Bushes, Poplars Garden Centre, Toddington, Personal Trainer Mike Zilles and local golf professional Richard Lally.
Rotary Club President Valerie Cooke presented the prizes and the smiling recipients (see attached photo) were Eric Hamilton, Mark Weeden and Stuart McMillan for the (nearly) solid silver golf trophy. Whilst the thirstier group of Tony Hancock, Fred Mercer and Stella Ojacor won the secondary prize of bottles of Prosecco.
Following a world polio update from Rotarian Mike Rhodes everyone appreciated that whilst fun and merriment abounded, the real result was that £1750 was being donated to help eradicate polio from around the world.
33 + 20 = 1750... It does sometimes!
Our thanks to all contributors
